Abstract

Although the Indian National Congress (INC) came into being in 1885, however, its branch in Sindh was established in 1920 entitled Sind Congress Party, with Dr. Choithram as President, Sirsuti Devi as Vice President, Qazi Abur Rehman as Secretary and Jairamdas as Joint Secretary. Initially it followed the aims and objectives of the INC, for example, to establish self-government in India’ and later on Swaraj (freedom) for India but after the elections of 1937Sind Congress Party activities turned against Muslim League and started intrigues to destabilise Muslim League Ministries. In this study the manoeuvrings of Sind Congress and the weaknesses of Muslim leaders of Sindh are highlighted.
