Abstract
Urbanization has been defined as the process of city population growth. The population of Karachi has risen from 2,63,565 in the year 1931 to 92,44,492 in 1998. Urbanization has affected all aspects of community - life in the city. The process poses challenges to both the quantity and the quality of school education. The present state of school education in Karachi provides opportunities to social work teams to help improve the standards of school education. The paper aims to find answers to three questions.
1. What is Urbanization, and its implications for school education?
2. What is the state of school education in Karachi?
3. What role can social work play in the improvement of school education?
